21.12.25: Why physiotherapists can laugh at the AI hype

Artificial intelligence is a new kid in everyone’s block, as it seems so. It can gather and present unimaginable quantum of data from the internet, to any person’s prompts related to his or her physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation needs.

So, with all the socia media community sensitizations and analytical, differential diagnoses and clinical correlations seemingly possible with the AI sometime tomorrow, do physiotherapists really need to bother?

Relax, as we understand, it’s not going to happen:

  1. Technological interfaces can make human brain to adapt, to receive larger amounts of data within a specific period of time, but at the same time will leave it with a weaker possibility to process, retain and retrieve the same. With available time almost remaining nil, or with the loss of healthy routines and physical strength due to more and more sedentary lifestyle behaviours tomorrow, the skills required to be learnt alongwith, for utilizing received e-contents to accomplish personal physiotherapy goals, will be replaced by a dependency on such AI interfaces only, which can hardly turn into really useful or successful physiotherapy program.
  2. Human confidence can never be replaced by any amount of data.
  3. Operational and usage costs of AI services in physiotherapy, except in non-clinical tasks, will not make practical sense beyond a limit, tomorrow.
  4. The moment physiotherapists and clients will realize that they are just a part of the competitive business warfare between corporate or start-up giants, they will naturally prefer to find avenues to stay away from them. That avenue can be no one other than a real physiotherapist himself or herself tomorrow.
  5. Above all, artificial intelligence is amusing, but it can never care.

Therefore, until treated as a tool, AI will be useful for any physiotherapist, but not when he or she gets overwhelmed or feel threatened with it.

Physiotherapists need to focus on generating their direct clinical leads in the market and transit their skills into the real-world confidence of their clients to recover. Therefore, non-clinical learnings will always mean a lot for them, to stay strongly relevant against any ‘cerebral hype’ of the field being dominated or ‘being taken over’ by AI kind of technological advancements, tomorrow.

Physical Rehab Events has declared an amazing series of its original non-clinical coaching sessions for Physiotherapists in India, scheduled between 21st to 29th of January 2026.
